Khao Sok – Takua Pa – Khao Lak: Hidden Treasures
Morning Tea/Coffee; Lunch; Dinner
Khao Sok – Breakfast briefing followed by a very scenic ride along mountain and countryside roads to Takua Pa, a small coastal town containing historically significant Sino-Portuguese architecture.
1st stop – Enjoy delicious teas or gourmet local coffee with a traditional Chinese master herbalist, at an informal cafe frequented almost exclusively by locals.
2nd stop – Explore a pristine coastal mangrove forest in a guided canoe, looking out for rare and threatened species like Royal Hornbills, Crab Eating Macaques and Green Tree Pythons to name but a few.
3rd stop – We then cruise back into town to enjoy brunch at a local restaurant.
4th stop – After our feast we begin our cultural tour of Takua Pa's old town; taking in its unique architecture; visit a small Chinese temple and shrine; and finally, step inside a Sino-Portuguese style homestead for an informal, up-close-and-personal tour with the homeowner.
5th stop – We return to our motorcycles and once again take a dip, this time at a lovely, secluded waterfall not on any tourist maps. This waterfall is located in a hidden pocket of remnant rainforest that is frequented by only a handful of local people.
6th stop- We now head back towards the coastline, riding our vintage time capsules to a local surf beach near Khao Lak. Here we can take a refreshing swim in the ocean (if conditions permit) followed by afternoon tea/early dinner at a nearby seaside restaurant right on the beach.
7th stop- We'll then jump back onto our bikes and head out of town for our final and most relaxing stop of the day, the local hot springs for a reinvigorating soak in its steaming hot, therapeutic waters.
Return to Khao Sok – taking very scenic countryside roads.
