Khao Sok – Takua Pa: Mountains to Mangroves
Morning tea/coffee; Lunch
Khao Sok – Breakfast briefing followed by a very scenic ride along mountain and countryside roads to Takua Pa, a small coastal town containing historically significant Sino-Portuguese architecture.
1st stop – Enjoy delicious teas or gourmet local coffee with a traditional Chinese master herbalist at an informal cafe frequented almost exclusively by locals.
2nd stop – Explore pristine coastal mangrove forest in a guided canoe, looking out for rare and threatened species like majestic Royal Hornbills, mischievous Crab Eating Macaques and resplendent Green Tree Pythons.
3rd stop – We then cruise back into town to enjoy brunch at a local restaurant.
4th stop – After our feast, we continue our cultural tour of Takua Pa's old town; taking in its unique architecture; visit a small Chinese temple and shrine; and finally, step inside a Sino-Portuguese homestead for an informal, up-close-and-personal tour with the homeowner.
5th stop – We'll then jump back onto our classic bikes and head out of town to stop for a refreshing swim at a lovely, secluded waterfall not on any tourist maps. This waterfall is located in a hidden pocket of remnant rainforest that is frequented by only a handful of local people.
Return to Khao Sok – taking very scenic countryside roads.
